BRIXTON Padded Racing Leather Jacket

A café-racer jacket from the 1940s, rebuilt for how you wear leather now.

The BRIXTON is descended from the café-racer motorcycle jackets of the 1940s. The factory spent a year reworking the pattern: heavy panels layered over the shoulders, the body cut short, the whole thing set wide. Zipped up, the body stops short, so the set of the shoulder and the depth of the chest are what you see.

The leather is a sheepskin made new for this pattern, in the British manner. It keeps the softness sheepskin is known for but is finished thicker than usual. Two reasons for choosing it: the garment gains the substance that thin sheepskin never has, and because the hide stays soft, the reinforcement panels at the shoulder and elbow stand up full and round. The surface carries a fine, distinctive grain.

Vertical zip pockets at the chest, flap pockets at the waist. Zipped cuffs, a low stand collar closed with a single dot button. Lined in a light camel, with an inside pocket.

Both the materials and the details trace back to British motorcycle jackets, rebuilt from there around how the jacket is worn now. The name follows from that: BRIXTON, after the place in Britain.

Design Concept for the BRIXTON Padded Racing Leather Jacket

 Design Philosophy

The BRIXTON belongs to a lineage that begins in the café-racer culture of 1940s Britain — small stand collars, reinforced shoulders and elbows, pocket layouts borrowed from the great American moto jackets of the era, and the same archetype that became a screen icon decades later.

For this jacket, Real Simons spent a year reworking the pattern with input from years of sales experience and customer feedback: the body cut short, the shoulders set wide, and reinforcement panels heavy enough to read through the leather.

The leather itself was developed new for the pattern. A British-style sheepskin from New Zealand imported hides, thicker than standard sheepskin yet just as soft — the kind of hide once found only on high-end original British motorcycle jackets, prized for its softness, its substance, and its ability to age beautifully. The specially developed brown version is a tea-core hide: where it rubs and wears, a lived-in patina comes through.

Both materials and details trace back to British motorcycle jackets, rebuilt from there around how the jacket is worn now. The name follows from that: BRIXTON, after the place in Britain — British DNA, re-cut into the American-style moto jacket made for today's body and today's streets.

 Upgrades & Adjustments

While we honor the original design, we have made targeted improvements:

  • New British-Style Sheepskin:Developed over a year from New Zealand imported hides — sheepskin softness with above-normal thickness, solving the "sheepskin wears out fast" problem while giving the garment real weight
  • Pattern Re-Proportion:The body cut short and the shoulders set wide — a massive shoulder line that reads even zipped up
  • Tea-Core Brown Option:A specially developed brown version that ages into a vintage patina with friction and wear

Leather use and maintenance knowledge

Leather products are consumables.

  • Proper maintenance can extend their service life. When wearing it daily, you should pay attention to protecting the leather surface to prevent scratches by hard or sharp objects, and avoid contact with oil, acidic and alkaline substancesLeather products are strictly prohibited from washing, tumbling and drying, and long-term exposure to the sun.

  • If they are wet by rain or moisture, you can use a soft dry cloth to gently wipe off the surface water stains and dry them in a cool and ventilated place. Do not wear before it is completely dryLeather should not be rubbed with water or gasoline, as water will make the leather hard and gasoline will volatilize the oil in the leather and cause it to crackNatural fur/fur collar will have slight curls after long-term wearing or washing.

  • Detergents may cause hair loss at some edges, so dry cleaning is recommendedColorless maintenance oil should be applied before changing seasons and storage to prevent leather aging and cracking.

  • Before application, a small area should be tested on a hidden part to prevent discoloration caused by chemical reactions between maintenance oil and leatherStore in a hanging position and do not fold or press heavily to prevent wrinkles on leather/furMothballs for mildew and insects should not come into direct contact with leather
