Mulholland Genuine Leather Motorcycle Jacket — Tea Core Horsehide

Regular price $360.00
Description

Mulholland Drive is a road in Southern California, located north of Hollywood, and named after William Mulholland, a pioneer civil engineer in Los Angeles.

Mulholland Drive also falls within the patrol jurisdiction of the California Highway Patrol (CHP). In the early days, uniform standards among U.S. law enforcement agencies were relatively loose, and officers often ordered their uniforms from local tailors or stores they were familiar with.

The original inspiration for the “Mulholland” leather jacket comes from one such CHP-issued uniform from the 1930s, making it a piece rooted in history. It carries the distinct features of a 1930s sports jacket, including:

  • A straight zip front
  • Notched lapel
  • Three-pocket design
  • Adjustable cuffs

The only notable difference is that the Mulholland jacket features several pressed crease lines at the hem, a unique detail distinguishing it from standard sports jackets of the era. Crafted from custom tea core horsehide, the jacket is refined and supple — delivering both superior aesthetics and long-term wearability.

The Mulholland Jacket 1930s

The Mulholland Jacket (1930s)

Named after Los Angeles’s Mulholland Drive, this design draws inspiration from the uniforms worn by the California Highway Patrol in the 1930s. In an era when officers still had to commission their uniforms from local tailors, it deftly blended practical functionality with the emerging style of civilian sportswear of the time.

It features a straight front zipper, notched lapels, a three-pocket layout, and adjustable cuffs—showcasing classic details characteristic of the 1930s.

The unique pleated lines at the hem set this Mulholland jacket apart, making it truly distinctive among the many standard sports jackets of that era.
