J-24 Jacket With Detachable Fur Collar
Description
For enthusiasts of vintage motorcycle jackets and classic automotive heritage, the BUCO J-24 stands as a legendary icon.
First introduced in 1953, this piece has long been celebrated as one of the most influential motorcycle jackets ever created—a timeless symbol of freedom and the open road.
Our reissue stays true to the original's soul with its construction. We use Padova tea-core horsehide, a material renowned for its exceptional durability, rich texture, and beautiful patina that deepens with age. This choice ensures your jacket ages as uniquely as your journey, embodying the rugged authenticity that defines vintage moto wear.
Details

J24 leather jacket with mouton collar (1950s)
Founded in the 1930s for riders, BUCO entered apparel soon after.
In 1953 came the flagship: chest D-pocket, rear gamepocket, a belted waist, and detachable sheepskin-on-leather collar.
Later reproductions simplified the jacket -belts removed, a “J-24L" variant invented, though never part of the original archive.
This edition restores the full specification:belt, collar, and pockets intact -a faithful revival of the 1950s icon.
Upgrades & Adjustments
- Collar: Changed to reddish-brown and slightly enlarged for balance.
- Fit: Looser than Japanese repros, closer to original U.S.style.
- Interlayer: Switched from waste-wool fill to silk-cotton.
- Hardware: Same-spec TALON zippers and snaps retained.
Leather use and maintenance knowledge
- Leather/fur/textile products are consumables. Proper maintenance can extend their service life.
- When wearing it daily, you should pay attention to protecting the leather surface to prevent scratches by hard or sharp objects, and avoid contact with oil, acidic and alkaline substances
- Leather products are strictly prohibited from washing, tumbling and drying, and long-term exposure to the sun.
- If they are wet by rain or moisture, you can use a soft dry cloth to gently wipe off the surface water stains and dry them in a cool and ventilated place. Do not wear before it is completely dry
- Leather should not be rubbed with water or gasoline, as water will make the leather hard and gasoline will volatilize the oil in the leather and cause it to crack
- Natural fur/fur collar will have slight curls after long-term wearing or washing. Detergents may cause hair loss at some edges, so dry cleaning is recommended
- Colorless maintenance oil should be applied before changing seasons and storage to prevent leather aging and cracking. Before application, a small area should be tested on a hidden part to prevent discoloration caused by chemical reactions between maintenance oil and leather
- Store in a hanging position and do not fold or press heavily to prevent wrinkles on leather/fur
- Mothballs for mildew and insects should not come into direct contact with leather
