Horsehide Venom Leather Jacket

Regular price $381.00
Description

It is called the Venom Jacket because of the one worn by Tom Hardy in the movie Venom.

The actual prototype is a 1940s CAFE RACER-style motorcycle leather jacket collected by Ralph Lauren.

The small stand-up collar and shoulder and elbow reinforcements are typical CAFE RACER racing styles. The pocket layout is obviously borrowed from SCHOTT618, but it is a straight zipper style.

From the appearance, we can also get a glimpse of the contention of American motorcycle leather jackets in the golden age of 1940-50s.

Details
  • Material Upgrade:The sheepskin used for the Tom Hardy Venom Motorcycle Jacket has been upgraded to "Tea-Core" Polish Horsehide—a choice that emphasizes structural integrity and a premium, lustrous finish. As the jacket ages and patinas over years of use, the true "playability" of the garment is entrusted entirely to the wearer. A leather jacket that evolves alongside you is the very soul of natural leather—the essence that makes it so worthy of appreciation—and it is a pleasure we would never seek to deprive you of.
  • Fit Optimization:The sizing and cut of the US-market RRL line tend to run large—often too voluminous for the average Asian physique—making an ill-fitting, sloppy appearance a highly probable outcome. To address this, we have struck a balance by blending the meticulous precision of Japanese pattern-making with the rugged, substantial character of American styling. The result is a fit that is refined yet masculine—tough without being baggy—fully showcasing the inherent structural integrity of the premium horsehide. Regarding hem details, we drew inspiration from FREEWHEELERS' "SPEED MASTER" model, raising the zipper's bottom stop by 5 cm. This ensures that whether you are riding a motorcycle or seated in a car, the hem will not bunch up uncomfortably against your midsection. Furthermore, after years of use, the unique fading and creasing that develop at the pointed corners of the horsehide hem will serve as a delightful, aesthetic "easter egg" for the discerning wearer to appreciate.
  • Design Details:
Custom-molded SIMONS-exclusive printed mercerized twill satin lining.
Vintage-style IDEAL brass zippers: The main front zipper has been upsized to a heavy-duty No. 8 gauge, while all pocket and cuff zippers feature premium self-locking sliders—a design choice that effectively resolves the common issue of cuff zippers inadvertently sliding open.

Custom-commissioned SIMONS vintage brass buttons, manufactured by YKK China. As the leather ages and develops a unique patina over time, these brass accents will become even more captivating.

Leather specifications: 1.1–1.3 mm thickness; garment weight is approximately 1.8 kg. Crafted from full-grain "tea-core" horsehide that has undergone a mild softening treatment, ensuring a comfortable fit that avoids the stiff, constricting sensation of wearing armor.

Tom Hardy Venom Motorcycle Jacket Idea

It is called the Venom Jacket because of the one worn by Tom Hardy in the movie Venom. The actual prototype is a 1940s CAFE RACER-style motorcycle leather jacket collected by Ralph Lauren.

With the continuous improvement of our leather materials and the stable cooperation with regular hardware manufacturers, as well as the Simons team's understanding of clothing design in the past two years, their grasp of aesthetic details has improved their knowledge of retro culture.

At present, we have the confidence to launch the REAL SIMONS version of the venom style, respecting the classics but not mindless plagiarism, achieving that taste but being different, without the earthy or copycat taste Yu Lian is neat and tidy.

Padova Horse Hide

REALSIMONS 2023 Original Custom "Padova" Padova Tea Heart Horse Hide

Drawing inspiration from the standard Shinki "Tea-Core" Horsehide (SF Black)—and building upon its stylistic foundation—we have undertaken further refinements and adjustments.

We selected Polish-sourced hides, applying even more rigorous standards during the selection process (AA Grade) to ensure that any surface grain looseness in the finished leather is kept within a minimal range. Furthermore, during the re-tanning stage, we incorporated a higher volume of fatliquoring agents for internal replenishment, alongside a specialized casein treatment.

The resulting effect is a leather that exhibits an enhanced tactile richness, improved suppleness, and—comparatively speaking—superior surface luster and a cleaner, more refined grain texture.

Leather use and maintenance knowledge

Leather products are consumables.

  • Proper maintenance can extend their service life. When wearing it daily, you should pay attention to protecting the leather surface to prevent scratches by hard or sharp objects, and avoid contact with oil, acidic and alkaline substancesLeather products are strictly prohibited from washing, tumbling and drying, and long-term exposure to the sun.

  • If they are wet by rain or moisture, you can use a soft dry cloth to gently wipe off the surface water stains and dry them in a cool and ventilated place. Do not wear before it is completely dryLeather should not be rubbed with water or gasoline, as water will make the leather hard and gasoline will volatilize the oil in the leather and cause it to crackNatural fur/fur collar will have slight curls after long-term wearing or washing.

  • Detergents may cause hair loss at some edges, so dry cleaning is recommendedColorless maintenance oil should be applied before changing seasons and storage to prevent leather aging and cracking.

  • Before application, a small area should be tested on a hidden part to prevent discoloration caused by chemical reactions between maintenance oil and leatherStore in a hanging position and do not fold or press heavily to prevent wrinkles on leather/furMothballs for mildew and insects should not come into direct contact with leather
