Timeless And Classic Outwear Since 1936
The Barbour International Jacket made its debut in 1936.
Designed and introduced by Duncan Barbour—the head of the company at the time—it was conceived as an all-weather motorcycle riding suit featuring an impressive four-pocket carrying capacity.
Notably, the left chest pocket was angled to allow riders to easily consult their maps. It garnered widespread acclaim during the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) of that era, eventually becoming the official uniform for national teams from numerous countries.
The iconic image of Steve McQueen riding while wearing the "International" jacket originates from the 1964 ISDE competition held in East Germany.
Reproduction Notes
The pattern is the result of comprehensive consideration of multiple Japanese brand leather versions, including REAL McCOY’S and FINECREEK ADDICT, as well as original British-made oil wax, achieving a fit that is neither too tight nor too loose, allowing for free movement without being sloppy.
It is the product of multiple modifications based on Asian body data. The armhole curvature, hem height, sleeve cap height, forearm fit, and especially the cuff tightening, have all undergone multiple pattern making confirmations and modifications. Creating a classic pattern is paramount; otherwise, even the best materials cannot achieve that refined look.
