This upgraded version of the classic Real Simons jacket, made of horsehide, draws inspiration from the SCHOTT 641 design. It sheds the bulkiness of cowhide while maintaining the same sturdiness and durability. Incorporating features from the late 1950s Cafe Racer jacket, it features several optimizations and adjustments. These include removing some snaps at the collar, the side pockets, and the adjustable buckle at the back waist. The overall structure is cleaner and more streamlined, aligning with the design philosophy of the Cafe Racer Jacket.

In terms of details, compared to the ultra-simple classic "J-100," it adds an adjustable snap at the collar, a windproof flap on the placket, a slightly angled chest pocket, accordion pleats on the back for greater freedom of movement, and an additional inner pocket.

REAL SIMONS 2023 Original Custom "Ferla" Oil-Waxed Horsehide, made from 1.5-1.6mm Polish horsehide hides. The tanning process differs from ordinary leather, emphasizing the addition of an oil-wax formula, resulting in significant shrinkage and increased density.

The finished leather is 1.3mm thick, offering excellent shaping and a warm, natural sheen. It possesses a rich vintage feel, and with continued use, an oil film will form on the surface, further enhancing its luster. This heavily oil-waxed leather has no other coating and a relatively soft surface. Pressure or vigorous scratching will leave indentations or scratches, which can be eliminated or reduced by rubbing. This is not considered leather damage. Those who cannot accept this characteristic should refrain from purchasing.

Leather use and maintenance knowledge

  • Leather/fur/textile products are consumables. Proper maintenance can extend their service life.

  • When wearing it daily, you should pay attention to protecting the leather surface to prevent scratches by hard or sharp objects, and avoid contact with oil, acidic and alkaline substances

  • Leather products are strictly prohibited from washing, tumbling and drying, and long-term exposure to the sun.

  • If they are wet by rain or moisture, you can use a soft dry cloth to gently wipe off the surface water stains and dry them in a cool and ventilated place. Do not wear before it is completely dry

  • Leather should not be rubbed with water or gasoline, as water will make the leather hard and gasoline will volatilize the oil in the leather and cause it to crack

  • Natural fur/fur collar will have slight curls after long-term wearing or washing. Detergents may cause hair loss at some edges, so dry cleaning is recommended

  • Colorless maintenance oil should be applied before changing seasons and storage to prevent leather aging and cracking. Before application, a small area should be tested on a hidden part to prevent discoloration caused by chemical reactions between maintenance oil and leather

  • Store in a hanging position and do not fold or press heavily to prevent wrinkles on leather/fur

  • Mothballs for mildew and insects should not come into direct contact with leather
